My colleague at work thought I was reading an article in the Onion. She was shocked when she discovered that the article was actually published on the Web site of a local NBC station.
The article was about Joe the Plumper announcing his new career as a war correspondent. Joe who is not even a licensed plumper, is going to Israel to report on the Israeli war on Gaza for an Ohio-based conservative Web site.

[Joe the Plumper] tells WNWO-TV in Toledo that he wants "go over there and let their 'Average Joes' share their story."What a moron! I wonder what would Christian Amanpour, Anderson Cooper, Robert Fisk and many other experienced international correspondents (whom Israel banned from covering the Gaza carnage) would say about this!

I bet he has a better concept of fairness and the importance of facts than the 'journalists' you named--- and you. Let's face it, he made a name for himself by asking a factual question that professional journalist were afraid to ask, or too dishonest to ask. And Obama lied in his answer as has already been made evident.
Yeah, evident that Obama became the president of the United States of America, after he was elected by the majority of the American people who were fed up with the GOP lies.
Get over it, buddy! Your disastrous times are gone. It's time for change, to the better of course.
lol. derd, thanks for the laugh. you are almost as funny as joe the plumber.
Bassam, this just goes to show you how much the extreme right values propaganda. without it they are dead ducks. with it, they provide fodder for their idiot fan base.
The daily show nailed this subject on the Jan 8th episode, that's all I have to say.
The last statement is very misleading Bassam as 'The Plumber' has only been in Sderot and won't be going into Gaza, like all other 'proper' news correspondents.
Could you specify the "misleading" statement, Avram?
"I wonder what would Christian Amanpour, Anderson Cooper, Robert Fisk and many other experienced international correspondents (whom Israel banned from covering the Gaza carnage)"
You're implying as if foreign correspondents aren't covering what is happening in Gaza. Sure they're covering it (you've linked a few Fisk articles yourself), it's just NO journalists are allowed in there. None, not Joe, not Rob, not Chaim, or Moshe or Abdul. No one.
With regards to the carnage, I'd wait until the end to determine exactly what happened. I'll give you an example. Back in 2002, the Palestinians claimed Israel had butchered 500 innocent civilians in Jenin during Operation Defensive Shield. They said there were mass graves etc ... The UN, and the world, obviously believed it. After the UN came into the city, the then capital of Palestinian Terrorism, the numbers were announced at:
56 Palestinians (40+ combatants) & 23 Israeli soldiers.
The damage was done, as it's being done now. Don't believe everything the media tells you - unless of course you feel these Palestinian 'sources' are 100% reliable.
"You're implying as if foreign correspondents aren't covering what is happening in Gaza."
No, I was being sarcastic. I meant that those experienced international journalists may find it weird that an uncertified plumper thinks he can be a war correspondent with no journalism experience whatsoever.
There is no balanced or neutral media. I know that very well. However, I can see what is happening there in live and recorded footage of the carnage there. If you think that what is happening there in terms of destroying the infrastructure and the death of all of those innocent civilians then we are not on the same page, my friend.
"If you think that what is happening there in terms of destroying the infrastructure and the death of all of those innocent civilians then we are not on the same page, my friend."
Did you believe the Jenin stories? I know I did and I was horrified by it. Fact is, we were all lied to, and herein lies the lesson ... The #s will be accurate at the end, not now where one side claims one thing, the other another ... Both have reasons not to be honest, I choose to wait till the end instead of making that same mistake twice.
Infrastructure damage to Hamas's tunnels and buildings don't bother me. I doubt they bother you either as you're anti-Hamas. If we hit hospitals (I don't think we have) or schools (I think the main incident hit the courtyard), it's bad for obvious reasons.
Lastly, anyone can broadcast. Is Fisk not biased? As biased as the plumper is, just in your opinion's favor. Fact is, whoever wants to speak will speak (via TV or internet or radio or whatever) and people will either listen or not ...
Avram, I vaguely remember the Jenine stuff. We were going through the international sanctions then and I was concerned more about surviving hunger while continuing education.
Each one of us deep inside is biased. But sometimes one bias differs than the other. Yes, Fisk is biased but he's writing about a reality. He's not lying. He's attracting the attention of those who do not know why things reached this deadlock.
All I think about are how the civilians are being punished in an unbalanced war. If Israel is really into ethical war, it should let the civilians out of the city and fight the Hamas face to face.
Bassam, I just want to say that this is my last (I hope) post for the night as it's late and I'm tired!
"Yes, Fisk is biased but he's writing about a reality. He's not lying. He's attracting the attention of those who do not know why things reached this deadlock."
Plumper is reporting about a reality too though. Your last sentence is true but as you say he's biased, he gives 'one side' of the conflict. As I said earlier anyways, we CHOOSE who to believe and who not to believe. I could care less what Plumper says - and while I'll read Fisk, I also won't view his opinions and, at times, distorted view of history as accurate.
"If Israel is really into ethical war, it should let the civilians out of the city and fight the Hamas face to face."
A few points regarding this - Israel made thousands of calls to Gaza civilians before the 2nd waves of attacks. They've dropped leaflets too.
I am rather certain that Hamas makes it VERY hard for them to leave willingly - remember, a dead civilian = Hamas is the ONLY winner. Do some of them stay? Yes. Do some of them leave? Yes. Do any of these innocent civilians deserve to die? Heaven forbid. That unfortunately though is the saddest part of war - that too often those who need to be taken out will outlive those who deserve long life.
Salaam Aleikum
